Financial Settlement for Divorce
Why do you need a financial settlement for divorce?
A home is the single most valuable asset couples own. The best solicitors around the UK will all tell you that if you’re separating from your wife or husband, the first step in the process is coming to a financial settlement to find out what the assets are. If assets aren’t calculated accurately, the settlement can result in unfairness to either the wife or husband – this is extra stress you don’t need, and why we advise all customers to have a property advice meeting with us.
Property Advice Meetings
You will need a market valuation to calculate the settlement amount. If you and your partner cannot agree on a value, the court will order a local real estate agent or appraiser to appraise it. If the process is staggered, it costs more money in solicitors fees which wouldn’t have been necessary should you have opted for the market valuation initially.
And don’t worry, we will provide an independent and unbiased assessment and an accurate report in our property advice meetings. Everyone’s circumstances are different and that’s why we are proud to offer the most bespoke of services.
The Property Valuation Report
The process of preparing a property valuation report includes a site visit by one of our professional, Registered Appraisers at Nikki Homes, including internal and external inspections. Accurate and unbiased valuations are made using local knowledge and comparable sales evidence, considering attributes such as property size, condition, specifications and location.
Both parties may want to obtain their own market valuation, separately – this is completely normal, and we will support our customers with equal, unbiased support remaining professional at all times.
As market valuations are required for the divorce legal procedure, we want to provide adequate reassurance that our staff at Nikki Homes has all the knowledge and competence in this legal field. Together, we will help you get on the right path to start the next chapter.
Trusted, reputable, and personable!
